Chakra” is a Sanskrit word that literally translated means “spinning wheel” or “disk”.  There are seven major Chakras that run down the meridian of the human body.  Each Chakra corresponds to massive nerve and organ centers throughout the body.

The first Chakra, located at the base of the spine is the Root Chakra.  It governs basic needs such as stability, security, and safety.

The second Chakra, located beneath the navel is the Sacral Chakra.  It governs creativity, reproduction, sexuality, and expression.

The third Chakra, located above the navel and beneath the breastbone is the Solar Plexus Chakra.  It is our source of personal power and courage.

The fourth Chakra, located in the center of the chest, is the Heart Chakra.  It connects the lower Chakras of matter, with the upper Chakras, of Spirit and provides our ability to give and receive unconditional love to ourselves and others.

The fifth Chakra, located at the base of the neck, is the Throat Chakra.  It governs our ability to freely speak and hear our personal truth.

The sixth Chakra, located between the eyes, is the Third Eye Chakra.  It governs our intuition, and the ability to “see” our true path and purpose.

The seventh Chakra, located directly above the head, is the Crown Chakra.  This is the chakra of enlightenment, spiritual connection to our higher selves, the universal consciousness, and the Divine.

It is absolutely necessary for each of these Chakras to remain open and balanced in order for energy to flow freely throughout our bodies.  The number one cause of Chakras becoming compromised is stress.  Stress, and the compromised state of the human Chakra system, allows all disease and every physical malady to enter the body.

By managing various forms of stress, we are able to keep our bodies in optimal energetic balance, providing the greatest likelihood of remaining as healthy as we can.  Reiki, Healing Touch, Flotation, Aromatherapy, meditation, yoga and other forms of relaxation help to align and balance the Chakras, providing our most basic, fundamental method of maintaining health and wellness.
